The last GADGET café in Spain was invited to join the 25th anniversary of FUNDEUN on 27th June at the Santa Bárbara Castle in Alicante, which coincided with an annual prize-giving ceremony to present the Awards for New Business Ideas this year.

The prize, which has been awarded annually to members of the university community for 20 years, aims at promoting innovative, feasible business ideas in Alicante. In this year’s edition, the award was presented to 8 innovative projects. Prizewinners will turn their ideas into a real business, thus encouraging the creation of enterprises by university students.

As the event gathered both participants from both academic and business worlds, GADGET’s philosophy, activities and project outputs were presented to over 100 participants.

Three more awards were given during the ceremony: The special Business Knowledge Award for the application of knowledge and innovation to business, product and service management; ‘Cuéntanos tu idea’ Award for creative and innovative business ideas explained in 3-minute videos; and a prize awarded to the Fondo Pro Emprendedores Universitas Miguel Hernández by the Social and Economic Development Local Agency of the Alicante City Council.
